Mitsubishi key types by model and generation
Mitsubishi has used different key systems across its range over time. The year and model of your Mitsubishi determines which key type you need.
If you are unsure what key your Mitsubishi has, send a photo of it with your model and year and we will work it out.
- Older Mitsubishis often use a basic transponder key, a metal key with a chip programmed to match the immobiliser.
- Many Triton and Lancer models from the mid-era use a remote key or flip key, where the remote and transponder are programmed together.
- Newer Outlander and Triton generations use a smart key or proximity fob for keyless entry and push-button start.
- The newest Mitsubishi platforms can sometimes be dealer-only for key programming, and we will tell you honestly if that is the case.
